Lead by the Port of Portland, the University of Oregon’s Institute for Health in the Built Environment and Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory are working in tandem with Oregon State’s TallWood Design Institute to develop an innovation hub and production campus for mass timber research and fabrication.
“Among the goals are supporting Oregon’s emerging mass timber industry, growing regional economic development opportunities, creating career pathways and business opportunities for struggling communities, and accelerating production of affordable housing” (Coalition that includes UO awarded funding for mass timber, Around the UO).
As one of the 60 Finalists for the Build Back Better Regional Challenge, and the only one in Oregon, we are proud to be part of a coalition that is looking to advance mass timber manufacturing for the betterment of our communities.
