IHBE & ESBL are working as a team with PAE Engineers to help over a 1000 people in low-income housing save on their energy bills and have better health. Well- that’s the side effect of our research. Funded by the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) and led by Hacienda Development Corporation, we are going to study the health impacts of energy upgrades by upgrading heating, cooling, lighting, and fans, and adding solar panels to rooftops of six multifamily communities for a total of 243 units renovated.
From our upgrades, there is expected to be an average energy savings by nearly 70%, which means that the energy bills of residents will drop. Additionally, we expect that families will have cleaner air, increased comfort, and better outcomes as a result of this work.
