Science Communication Research (SCR) Associates is a growing network of researchers, educators, and practitioners dedicated to advancing the field of science communication. Our associates come from across the University of Oregon and beyond, including UO faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and science communication experts worldwide. Together, we explore innovative ways to bridge the gap between scientific research and public understanding, fostering deeper engagement across disciplines.
We’re excited to announce that Gwynne Mhuireach, a researcher at the Institute for Health in the Built Environment, has joined SCR as their newest associate! 🎉
Gwynne’s work focuses on the intersection of the built environment, microbial ecology, and human health. Her research examines how urban bioaerosols—tiny airborne biological particles—shape our surroundings, influencing everything from indoor air quality to public health. She is passionate about leveraging science communication to translate complex microbial and environmental research into accessible, real-world applications that benefit communities.
As part of SCR, Gwynne will contribute valuable insights into how scientific research can be effectively shared and applied, ensuring that discoveries in the built environment and microbial sciences reach the audiences who can use them the most.
We’re thrilled to welcome Gwynne to this dynamic network of science communicators, educators, and researchers! Stay tuned for updates on the groundbreaking work being done by our associates and the impact of science communication in diverse fields.
