The University of Oregon Biology and the Built Environment Center (BioBE Center) has conducted extensive research using Thermo Fisher Scientific’s AerosolSense air sampler. AerosolSense is an active air sampler that pulls 200 L/minute of room air into the unit for impaction and capture of bioaerosols. The capture media samples are then processed with molecular techniques to determine the presence or absence of target pathogens. The BioBE Center has just released two preprints that are available at the links below that summarize some of the research completed.
In Collaboration with the University of Oregon, the Biology and the Built Environment Center, and Thermo Fisher Scientific:
Evaluation of a Bioaerosol Sampler for Indoor Environmental Surveillance of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2
Environmental Viral Surveillance Should Include Bioaerosols: A comparison of surface and bioaerosol environmental sampling in hospital rooms with COVID-19 patients
