Thermal-Infrared Imaging

The lab uses thermal-infrared imaging to detect heat signatures in the built environment. This can be used for a number of applications to detect the radiation patterns of an object and convert them to a visible images. The lab primarily uses this to detect heat losses and air leakage in building envelopes, but it can also be used in more novel ways, for example detecting the “splash-zone” of a water source.
