Probiotic + HVAC for Energy Conservation

Funded by the IHBE Industry Consortium

Biofilm build-up in HVAC systems effectively reduces the available opening area of a duct, decreasing the energy efficiency as well as has a negative impact on heat transfer, system longevity, and indoor air quality. The lab is writing a proposal to study the efficacy of recently developed probiotic cleaning solutions in reducing biofilm build up and improving energy performance in HVAC systems.
